Letter: Ukraine tragedy resonates for Holocaust survivors

Thank you to Nilanjana Roy for her beautiful and moving article about Anne Frank (“Anne Frank’s potent words”, Opinion, FT Weekend, April 2).

One sentence I feel I have to question, however, is where she wrote: “As the Holocaust fades from living memory”. There are many of us who will never forget — sons, daughters, grandchildren of the murdered and survivors. We will tell the stories down through the generations as Anne Frank’s Diary is doing.

Even the terrible tragedy of today’s Ukraine resonates and makes us remember the blood and the bodies that lie buried in the bowels of the earth outside Kyiv.

Merely to give witness by one’s own testimony contributes to a moral victory over evil.
